Eight Zamfara Lawmakers Resign from APC, Cite Insecurity and Party Crisis
Eight members of the Zamfara State House of Assembly have resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) with immediate effect. The lawmakers cited insecurity, alleged poor leadership, disunity among party stakeholders, injustice and a lack of support for residents. They also accused the state government of failing to address security challenges in their constituencies. In his resignation letter, Bakura Constituency representative Ibrahim T. Tukur said his decision followed consultations and concerns about the party’s direction. Other lawmakers who resigned represent Talata Mafara South, Bukkuyum North, Gummi I, Maradun I, Bungudu West, Maru North and Kaura Namoda North. The resignations could deepen political tensions in Zamfara ahead of the 2027 general elections.
