Seven Arrested After Newborn Baby Girl Found Dead at Sheffield Home

Seven people have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a newborn baby girl was found dead at a residence in the Wincobank area of Sheffield, United Kingdom. South Yorkshire Police said officers received a report over concerns for the baby’s welfare at about 5:58am on Sunday, August 30, 2026. Officers searched a property on Holywell Heights, where the infant was found. Police officers and paramedics attempted to save her, but she was pronounced dead at the scene. Detectives said all seven suspects remain in custody as inquiries continue, while officers also work to establish the ages of some of those arrested. Police have urged the public not to speculate as the investigation is still at an early stage.
