Brake Failure Sparks Gas Explosion, Destroys Five Shops in Kubwa

Five building-materials shops were destroyed after a car reportedly crashed into a gas vendor’s shop in Kubwa, Bwari Area Council of the FCT on Sunday. An eyewitness said the driver was taking his family to church when the vehicle developed brake failure. The car reportedly hit the gas shop, triggering an explosion and fire. Federal Fire Service personnel said they received the distress call at about 6:20 a.m. and arrived within five minutes. Five fire trucks were deployed, helping to contain the blaze before it spread to more buildings and businesses. No casualties had been reported at the time of the report. NEMA, NSCDC, FRSC, police officers and volunteers joined efforts at the scene.
