Oyo Police Arrest Suspect Over Alleged Kidnap Threat and ₦3m Extortion Demand
Oyo State Police Command says it has arrested a suspect over alleged threats to kidnap and kill a 50-year-old resident of Seni Salla Village in Saki and members of his family. Police said the victim reported receiving calls from people who claimed they had been hired to abduct him. The callers allegedly demanded ₦3 million and told him to sell his houses to raise the money. The victim reportedly paid ₦100,000 into an account linked to a Point-of-Sale operator in Kwara State. Police said the payment helped investigators trace two men who came to withdraw the money. One suspect was arrested, while another allegedly fled. The arrested suspect was reportedly attacked by a mob before police intervened and took him to hospital. The command says investigations are continuing to identify and arrest other people connected to the alleged extortion plot.
