Three Children Found Dead in Abandoned Fish Pond in Delta Community

Three children aged six, eight and 12 were reportedly found dead in an abandoned fish pond in Saniko Community, Agbarha-Otor, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State. The children, all from the Ikpera family in nearby Awirhe Community, were reported missing on Saturday. A search continued into Sunday, when they were found in the pond beside a flowing stream. Community sources said the circumstances that led the children into the water have not been independently established. Their bodies were recovered and buried beside the stream. Residents have visited the bereaved family to offer condolences. Community leaders also urged parents to keep children away from streams, ponds and other unsafe water bodies, especially during periods of high water levels.
