JAMB Alleges 2025 UTME Top Scorer Manipulated Identity and Altered Records
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has accused 2025 UTME top scorer Chinedu Okeke of manipulating his identity and altering records to secure multiple admissions. The Board clarified that Okeke, originally from Amuwo-Odofin in Lagos State, used that identity in 2021 to gain admission into Medicine and Surgery at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. JAMB stressed that all candidate details are verified using the National Identification Number (NIN) and denied any error on its part. It dismissed claims of a wrong data retrieval from the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), saying evidence shows Okeke himself updated his records before registering for the 2025 exam. The Board also questioned why a 400-level medical student would suddenly switch his state of origin to Anambra and apply for Mechanical Engineering. Pending verification from the university, JAMB will notify the Medical and Dental Council if the alleged irregularities are confirmed, reaffirming its commitment to transparency and accurate record-keeping. Responding to social media narratives and expert claims of a system glitch, JAMB insisted it remains unfazed by public pressure. The Board said it will continue partnering with NIMC to protect the integrity of all candidates’ data.
