Report Says 81 US Aircraft Were Destroyed or Damaged During Iran Conflict
A Congressional Research Service report says at least 81 US military aircraft, helicopters and unmanned systems were destroyed or damaged during operations against Iran since late February. The tally reportedly includes F-15E jets, an F-35A, A-10 aircraft, KC-135 refuelling planes, an E-3 Sentry, special-operations aircraft and several helicopters and drones. Some aircraft were lost to friendly fire, crashes or rescue operations, while others sustained damage and later returned to service. The report cautioned that the figure may change as combat operations continue and more information becomes available. It also raised concerns about replacement costs, production capacity and possible capability gaps caused by the losses.
