US Army Major Nidal Hasan Scheduled for Firing-Squad Execution in December
Former US Army major Nidal Hasan is scheduled to be executed by firing squad at Fort Hood, Texas, on 3 December, according to Pentagon officials. If carried out, it would be the first US military execution since the end of World War II. Hasan was convicted of killing 13 people and injuring 32 others during a 2009 shooting at the Fort Hood military base. The attack occurred inside a medical building where soldiers were preparing for deployment. He was sentenced to death by a military court in 2013 after admitting he carried out the shooting. US officials say the execution was recommended by Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth and approved by President Donald Trump.
