Credit Report Dispute Still Pending? What to Expect After 10 to 30 Days
A wrong loan balance on your credit report can be frustrating, especially after you have submitted proof that the debt was paid. Credit bureaus often need confirmation from the bank or lender that supplied the information before they can update an entry. Many disputes are resolved within 10 to 30 days, but delays can happen when a lender is slow to respond. A correction made by one credit bureau may also not automatically appear on reports from other bureaus. Keep your receipts, bank alerts and loan agreements together. Check your report after 10 days and again near the 30-day mark. If there is still no update after a month, follow up with the bureau and provide the lender's name and the date you filed the dispute. Have you ever challenged an error on your credit report? How long did it take to resolve?
