Abia’s Selective Outrage: Unmasking Political Hypocrisy
Amid shifting dynamics in Abia State, the Labour Party and Governor Alex Otti have taken aim at Senator Orji Uzor Kalu. Yet they remained silent when elderly women were used to chant death wishes and youths in Ohafia were incited to violence. Serious allegations against Deputy Governor Emetu over the public humiliation of a former governor have gone unanswered. A young man’s suspicious killing after claiming threats from political actors also drew no official response. Inflammatory warnings from within the party—like telling opponents to “write their will”—were met with silence. But when Senator Kalu spoke of lawful defence, outrage became urgent and selective. Abians deserve consistent justice and genuine peace, not partisan distraction. The Labour Party must address security, tolerance, and accountability rather than weaponise propaganda.
