Civil Servant Alleges ₦977,124 Unauthorised Debits on GTBank Account, Including Loan
A civil servant, Adeyinka Lasaki, says ₦977,124 was removed from his GTBank account through transactions he did not authorise. He said the amount included ₦568,908 from his account balance and a ₦408,215 loan allegedly taken in his name. Lasaki said he began receiving debit alerts on September 20 and tried to stop the transactions, but could not access or control his banking app at the time. He said he blocked the account after regaining access, but the transfers had already been completed. He said he reported the matter at several branches, including the FUNAAB branch, but was later told the bank could not reverse the transactions. He also said he was asked to repay the loan. GTBank had not responded to enquiries before publication.
