Tinubu Congratulates By-election Winners, Calls on New Lawmakers to Deliver
President Bola Tinubu has congratulated candidates who won the September 19 legislative by-elections in Gombe, Kano, Bauchi and Delta states. The APC won four of the five seats, while the APM won the Sakwa State Constituency seat in Bauchi. INEC listed the contests as the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency and the Dawakin Kudu, Disina, Sakwa and Udu State Constituencies. Reported results showed APC candidates winning the Gombe, Dawakin Kudu, Udu and Disina seats, while APM candidate Adamu Yakubu won in Sakwa. Tinubu said the results reflected support for his administration’s reforms. He urged the newly elected lawmakers to serve their constituents well, asked unsuccessful candidates to accept the outcome peacefully, and called on INEC to build on progress made while addressing shortcomings before the 2027 general elections.
