Rotary Club Trains 70 Kurmawa Inmates in Tailoring, Vocational Skills
The Rotary Club of Kano, working with the Kurmawa Medium Security Custodial Centre, has trained 70 inmates in tailoring and other vocational skills. At the certificate presentation, the club said the programme was designed to help beneficiaries earn a living, rebuild their lives and reintegrate into society after release. It urged the public to support products made by inmates as part of their rehabilitation. The intervention also included payment of fines for some inmates convicted of minor offences. Kano Correctional Service officials said the partnership supports efforts to reduce reoffending through education, skills training and personal development.
