27 and Breaking Into Web Development: Am I Making the Right Move?

I'm 27, currently broke and living with my parents. Frustrated with dead-end options, I’ve decided to pursue web development, focusing on HTML and CSS, with the goal of becoming a freelance full-stack developer. Lately, I've heard discouraging comments like "AI will replace coders" and "the market is oversaturated." I’m seeking honest advice from those who’ve succeeded in this field. Is full-stack freelancing still a viable path? What’s the fastest way to earn my first income, given I can dedicate about 3 hours daily? Should I specialize in a niche like Web3 or AI, or go all-in on the MERN stack? Nigerian freelancers, how are you managing PayPal issues and building client trust? My current status: Learning CSS (not even Flexbox yet), no degree, no connections—just determination. My goal is to make $1,000 per month within a year. Should I pivot to other tech fields like UI/UX or cybersecurity, or double down on web dev and outwork the fears of AI and saturation? If you’ve been in my shoes and succeeded, sharing your story would mean a lot.
