FG Deploys First 37 Electric Buses for Federal Civil Servants in Abuja
The Federal Government has commissioned the first 37 of 100 electric mass-transit buses planned for federal civil servants in Abuja. The buses will operate on designated routes linking residential areas to the Federal Secretariat and other government offices in the FCT. The scheme is part of the Renewed Hope Mass Transit Programme and is intended to make commuting safer, more reliable and more affordable for workers. Officials said each bus can carry up to 200 passengers and travel at least 200 kilometres on a full charge. The government has also received the first batch of electric vehicles promised to civil servants. Authorities say EV-support infrastructure has been deployed at about 16 universities, while further investments in CNG stations and gas supply are expected to support the wider transition to cleaner transport.
