Ogun Says Nigeria for Women Programme Has Reached 100,000 Beneficiaries

Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun says about 100,000 women have benefited from the World Bank-supported Nigeria for Women Programme, which provides skills, financial-management training and support for sustainable livelihoods. During a visit by UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed in Abeokuta, the governor said the initiative was designed to reach grassroots women beyond political appointments. He said empowering women improves household incomes, strengthens families and supports community development. The programme coordinator said Ogun, one of six pilot states since 2020, has established 8,759 Women Affinity Groups involving 247,273 women across its 20 local government areas. Mohammed praised the programme and called for more women to benefit from similar opportunities.
