UConn Student and Former Track Athlete Dies After SUV Crash in Connecticut
Zachary Barry, a 22-year-old University of Connecticut senior and former track and field athlete, has died after his SUV crashed into a utility pole and tree in Mansfield, Connecticut. Police said Barry was driving on Huntington Lodge Road shortly after midnight on September 16 when his vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic. He was the only occupant and was taken to Hartford Hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Barry studied plant science and previously competed for UConn’s men’s track and field team. Emergency services were alerted to the crash through a mobile-device crash detection notification.
