NRC Opens Rail Tracks to Private Train Operators
The Nigerian Railway Corporation says private firms can operate trains on its roughly 4,000km rail network under a track-access arrangement. Operators will be required to provide their own locomotives, wagons and other rolling stock, while paying the corporation a fee to use the publicly built rail infrastructure. NRC Managing Director Kayode Opeifa said the move is intended to allow more operators into rail transport rather than leaving train operations solely to the corporation.
