2027: Analyst Says Nigerians May Vote Out Tinubu Over Power, Economy and Insecurity

Security and global affairs analyst Jackson Lekan Ojo says President Bola Tinubu could face electoral backlash in 2027 if Nigerians remain dissatisfied with electricity supply, economic hardship and insecurity. Ojo said Tinubu should be judged against his past pledge that Nigerians could vote him out if he failed to provide stable power. He also criticised the administration’s handling of the country’s refineries and petroleum supply. He argued that the next presidential election may feature a strong contest involving Tinubu, Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar. Ojo expressed support for Atiku, citing his experience as former vice-president and his role in economic policy under the Obasanjo administration.
