Man and Teenage Girl Missing After Flood Sweeps Them Into Aba Drainage
A man and a teenage girl were swept away by floodwater on Sunday evening, October 25, after he tried to rescue her from an uncovered ditch at Ukwu Mango on Faulks Road in Aba, Abia State. The girl reportedly fell into the water-filled ditch during heavy rainfall near a construction site. The man entered the rushing water in an attempt to save her, but both were carried away. Residents began searching immediately, while the Abia State Fire Service, police and other officials later joined efforts to trace the pair through nearby drainage channels. Authorities fear they may have been carried towards the Aba River. Police said the two had not been found as of Monday, and their identities had not been made public.
