Nigerian Forces Neutralise 40+ Terrorists and Rescue 72 Hostages in Nationwide Offensive

Over a week of operations from April 3 to 9, Nigerian troops neutralised more than 40 terrorists, rescued at least 72 kidnapped victims, and seized large caches of arms and illicit supplies, according to the defence spokesman. In the North-East, Operation Hadin Kai repelled coordinated attacks around Dikwa and Benisheikh, and an ambush in Gwoza recovered weapons and logistics. However, heavy fighting in Benisheikh resulted in the deaths of four soldiers, including a brigade commander. In the North-West, Operation Fansan Yamma freed 49 hostages and arrested collaborators linked to a notorious kingpin, while troops also repelled assaults in Zamfara, Katsina, and Kaduna. Operation Enduring Peace in the North-Central neutralised terrorists in Plateau and rescued 21 captives, and Operation Savannah Shield maintained security in Kwara without casualties. In the South-East, forces dismantled improvised explosives and detained suspects tied to IPOB/ESN in Abia, Anambra, and Imo. Operation Delta Safe in the South-South intercepted stolen petroleum, disabled bunkering sites, and recovered ransom money. The Chief of Defence Staff offered condolences to bereaved families and pledged to intensify operations in honour of the fallen.
