FG Launches ₦1.8 Trillion Reconstruction of 401km Niger Highway
The Federal Government has begun the reconstruction and dualisation of the 401-kilometre Lambata–Bida–Mokwa–Makera–Kontagora federal highway in Niger State. The project is valued at ₦1.8 trillion and will be delivered through the Dangote tax credit scheme. The Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, said the road will use reinforced concrete pavement and will be developed as a dual carriageway in partnership with the Dangote Group. He described it as a major infrastructure project for the North-Central region. Officials said the completed highway is expected to improve road safety and traffic flow, reduce travel time, and link farmers, businesses and communities to larger markets. The project is also expected to support trade, food distribution and job opportunities along the corridor.
