Woman Returns Mistaken ₦800,000 to Sender’s Account, Man Demands It Be Sent Elsewhere

A woman said her former neighbour contacted her after allegedly transferring ₦800,000 to her account by mistake. After confirming the payment, he reportedly sent her different bank details and asked her to refund the money there. She said she instead returned the full amount to the original account that sent it, adding the narration, “Money mistakenly received.” The man allegedly called to question why she returned it to his OPay account, claiming he could not withdraw from it. The woman said he became angry, ended the call and blocked her before she could send him the transfer receipt. She later said he had been arrested, although she did not state why or whether it was linked to the transaction.
