Benue University Student Arrested After Alleged Hot-Water Attack on Roommate
The Benue State Police Command has arrested a 500-level student of Fr Moses Adasu University, formerly Benue State University, over an alleged attack on her roommate. Police spokesperson DSP Peter Aondongu said the incident occurred on Friday, August 28, 2026, after a disagreement between the two students. The suspect allegedly boiled water, added salt and pepper, poured it on the victim, and locked her inside the room. Other people later intervened and rescued the victim, who was taken to hospital for treatment. Police say an investigation is ongoing to establish the cause of the dispute and the full circumstances of the alleged assault. The Students' Union has condemned the incident and says it will monitor the investigation and any disciplinary action by the university.
