IED Blast at Mushin Shoe Materials Market Injures One
The Lagos State Police Commissioner has reassured traders and residents after a suspected Improvised Explosive Device detonated under a vehicle at the Shoe Materials Market in Mushin. Security operatives, including Explosive Ordnance Disposal experts, cordoned off and swept the area after eyewitness reports of an explosion. Preliminary findings show the device was planted under the passenger side and triggered when the engine was started. One person was injured and taken to hospital, where they remain in stable condition. No additional devices were found during the sweep. Recovered fragments have been sent for forensic examination. The police urged everyone to stay calm, ignore rumours of widespread insecurity, and resume normal activities. The Baale of Oke Mushin Community said he spotted the suspicious vehicle during his early prayers and alerted authorities. A swift response by around 35 officers helped prevent panic while investigations continue into the vehicle’s ownership.
