Kingibe Accuses Wike of Taking FCT Loans Without Senate Approval
FCT Senator Ireti Kingibe has accused the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, of obtaining loans for Abuja without seeking approval from the National Assembly. Speaking on Channels Television, Kingibe said she reviewed Debt Management Office records from August 2023 to March 2026 and found no evidence that Wike appeared before the Senate to request approval for any FCT loan. She challenged anyone disputing her claim to produce the Senate’s Votes and Proceedings showing when the minister sought such approval. Kingibe argued that since President Bola Tinubu submits loan requests and appointments to the National Assembly, the FCT minister should not exercise powers beyond those of the president.
