Troops Rescue Kidnap Victim in Plateau, Arrest Gunrunner and Illegal Miners in North-Central
An operational report released in Abuja highlights recent successes by army units in the North-Central zone. In Plateau’s Riyom LGA, Operation Ensuring Peace troops rescued a kidnap victim abandoned by abductors on the Manchok–Jos highway. The victim was injured but evacuated for treatment and his vehicle recovered. Also in Riyom, soldiers responded to an attack on herders, recovered one body and evacuated two gunshot survivors. In Nasarawa’s Obi LGA, Operation Whirl Stroke forces working with the National Security Adviser’s office arrested a suspected gunrunner with 300 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition. Further operations in Taraba’s Gassol LGA yielded two AK-47 rifles, magazines and ammo. In the FCT’s Abaji area, troops detained three suspected illegal miners and seized their equipment before handing them over to the NSCDC.
