Nigerian Allegedly Linked to $330m Drug Seizure off India’s Coast
Indian authorities say a Nigerian national is under investigation over an alleged international drug-trafficking network after narcotics valued at more than $330 million were seized from an Iranian vessel in the Arabian Sea. The Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad said the man allegedly acted as an intermediary between a wanted suspect in Gujarat and other members of the network. The September 25 operation, conducted with the Indian Coast Guard, recovered 400kg of methamphetamine and 126kg of heroin. Five Pakistani nationals aboard the vessel were arrested. Investigators allege the drugs were intended for distribution across northern India, while inquiries continue into the Nigerian national’s alleged role and other possible suspects.
