Reps Extend 2025 Capital Budget Deadline to December 2026

The House of Representatives has approved a further three-month extension for the capital component of the 2025 Appropriation Act. The new deadline moves from September 30, 2026, to December 31, 2026. The extension followed a request from President Bola Tinubu, seeking more time for ministries, departments and agencies to complete ongoing infrastructure projects and spend allocated capital funds. Lawmakers said the measure is intended to prevent critical projects from being abandoned because of funding and implementation delays. The capital-budget deadline had previously been moved from December 2025 to March, June and September 2026.
