Cardi B Speaks on Bullying After Ghanaian Teen Is Fatally Shot in the Bronx
Cardi B has spoken out about bullying in New York schools following the fatal shooting of 15-year-old Ghanaian boy Javits Frimpong in the Bronx. In a live video, the rapper said bullying can begin as early as primary school. She warned that some children who face repeated harassment may turn to gangs for protection. She also said immigrant children, including those from African and Caribbean backgrounds, can be targeted because of their accents and unfamiliarity with American culture. Javits had reportedly moved from Ghana to join his father in New York about a year before he was shot near Crotona Park on October 29 while heading to school. His father said the incident may be linked to bullying, adding that two students were reportedly suspended over allegations involving the teenager days earlier. Cardi B urged parents to take complaints seriously and correct children who mistreat others. She said she would not want to raise her own children in a New York City neighbourhood because of the hostility some young people face.
