Bayelsa Police Order Renewed Crackdown on Cult Groups and Sponsors
The Bayelsa Police Command has directed officers to intensify operations against cultism and cult-related violence across the state. The Commissioner of Police ordered increased patrols in vulnerable areas, stronger intelligence gathering and swift action on credible reports of planned clashes, recruitment drives and initiation ceremonies. Police said organisers, financiers and other facilitators of cult-related crimes would be investigated and prosecuted where evidence is established. Residents, parents and community leaders were urged to report threats early, avoid reprisals and not shelter suspects.
