Reps Seek Urgent Repairs as Flooding Collapses Section of East-West Road in Delta
The House of Representatives has urged the Federal Government to urgently repair a collapsed section of the East-West Road at Agbarho in Ughelli North, Delta State. Persistent rainfall and flooding reportedly submerged homes, displaced families, damaged infrastructure and disrupted economic activities in several communities. Lawmakers warned that the damaged road could affect travel and trade across Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom and neighbouring states. The House asked the Ministry of Works to mobilise for immediate repairs, while urging NEMA to support displaced residents in Ughelli North, Ughelli South and Udu. It also called on the Ecological Funds Office to take lasting erosion-control measures in Agbarho and directed relevant committees to monitor implementation within four weeks.
