Rivers Assembly Probes State Funding for Peter Odili’s PAMO University
The Rivers State House of Assembly has set up a seven-member ad hoc committee to investigate state funds released to PAMO University of Medical Sciences since the institution was founded in 2017. The committee will examine the total amount provided, how the funds were used, and the beneficiaries of any scholarship scheme for Rivers indigenes. It is expected to submit its report by September 30, 2026. The inquiry follows the Assembly’s refusal to approve the ₦6 billion proposed for the university in the 2026 budget, with part of the allocation redirected to renovate health facilities across the state. PAMO University has denied any lack of transparency, saying funds received were used for the medical education and sponsorship of Rivers indigenes.
