Gunmen Kill Traditional Ruler, Wife and Son in Olegabulu, Benue
Gunmen stormed Olegabulu community in Agatu Local Government Area on Thursday night, April 23, 2026. They killed the traditional ruler, Chief Momo Alexander Awodi, his wife Abigail and their son Boniface. Local sources say other members of the Awodi family were also killed, including Mr. Ochowechi Ochegwu and Mrs. Deborah Ochowechi. Witnesses believe the attackers knew the terrain and dispel rumours of a herdsmen attack. The Agatu LGA chairman described the killings as tragic and urged residents to remain calm and avoid revenge. He said security agencies have been mobilized and investigations are ongoing.
