Imo Police Reject N5M Bribe, Bust Armed Robbery Gang and Recover 450 Motorcycles
The Imo State Police Command turned down a N5 million bribe from five suspected armed robbers after an Anti-Kidnapping Unit operation led by ACP Oladimeji Odeyeyiwa. They recovered a stolen bus, 450 motorcycles, N6.4 million in cash and various number plates. The breakthrough followed the abduction and assault of commercial bus driver Mr Paul Ohaka on April 5. Detectives traced the stolen bus to a workshop in Orlu, where two suspects were arrested while preparing to repaint the vehicle. DSP Henry Okoye said the suspects offered N5 million to escape justice, but the officers upheld a zero-tolerance stance on corruption. Charms and other exhibits were seized, and the Commissioner of Police has ordered full prosecution of all involved.
