Is the Oduduwa Republic Agitation Being Abandoned Too Soon?
The Oduduwa Republic agitation appears to have faded from public discussion. I believe this may be a political mistake for Yoruba people, especially if the current focus on federal political power replaces long-term conversations about regional security and self-determination. In my view, support for a president from the South-West should not end discussions about the region's future. Political power will eventually shift again, and any renewed agitation may receive less attention or support. I am also concerned about insecurity in other parts of Nigeria and the risk of extremist groups expanding their reach. The South-West should strengthen security, protect its communities and have serious conversations about its future within Nigeria.
