Boko Haram Ambush in Monguno Kills Colonel I.A. Mohammed and Six Soldiers
Suspected Boko Haram fighters ambushed a military convoy in Monguno, Borno state on April 12. The attackers first launched an assault on troops at the Charlie 13 location but were repelled after a fierce gun battle. While personally inspecting the forward position, Colonel I.A. Mohammed’s vehicle struck an improvised explosive device. The blast killed him and six soldiers, highlighting the ongoing dangers faced by troops in the region. The North-East Joint Task Force mourned the loss of the officers, praising their courage and selfless service. This ambush follows a recent attack in Benisheikh that claimed the lives of two soldiers and Brigadier-General Oseni Braimah.
