Activist Alleges Police Mishandled Case of Rivers Landlord Accused of Assaulting 10-Year-Old Girl
Human rights activist Harrison Gwamnishu has accused the Rivers State Police Command of mishandling an investigation into the alleged sexual assault of a 10-year-old girl by her family’s landlord. The girl reportedly told her family that the suspect lured her into his room and repeatedly abused her. She also alleged that he threatened her to keep her silent. Her condition reportedly raised concern after she was seen struggling to walk. Her parents reported the matter at Choba Police Station, and the case was later transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department. Gwamnishu alleges that the suspect remains free despite the report, raising concerns about the handling of the case.
