Free Rides, Nursery Rhymes and a Cane: An Unforgettable Morning
After fuel prices shot up, I decided to offer free rides to work and back. Last year, I even started keeping a cane on my dashboard for misbehaving drivers and agberos. One morning, I picked up four passengers. I played nursery rhymes on Bluetooth because of my baby. One lady rudely demanded gospel songs from her phone, but I ignored her request. Near the usual bus stop, I asked them to take a keke or okada since I had to turn early. All but the demanding lady got off. She complained she couldn’t spot a bus and insisted I drive her back. I gave her two lashes on the head with my cane. She screamed “kidnapper!” and ran off. As I sped away, I found her phone on the seat. I smiled and thought: What God cannot do does not exist!
