Suspected Cultists Gun Down Youth Inside Aba Church

On May 24 at about 12:35 p.m., unidentified gunmen believed to be cultists chased and shot a young man inside an Apostolic Church near Opobo Junction in Ogbor Hill, Aba. The victim, known only as Marky, had gone for sports in the morning. Witnesses say he was struck on his return and ran into the church, collapsing at the altar. Attackers followed him into the sanctuary and fired again, ensuring he did not survive. An anti-cultism group, Confra Naija, linked the incident to cult activities. The State Police Command’s spokesperson confirmed that officers from the Eastern Ngwa Division recovered the body, deposited it in a morgue for autopsy, and are investigating leads from the patrol teams.
