Six Dead as Gas Truck Explodes at Kogi Army Checkpoint
A gas-laden truck exploded late Tuesday night at an Army checkpoint along the Abuja–Lokoja Highway in Kogi State, killing six people. The vehicle, carrying several gas cylinders, caught fire as it approached the Chikara Division checkpoint. Police, Federal Road Safety Corps officers, and Motor Traffic Division personnel rushed in as the blaze spread to three other trucks, killing their drivers and motor boys. Security analyst Zagazola Makama confirmed the fatalities. The burnt remains were taken to General Hospital Abaji, and the wreckage was cleared to reopen the highway.
