Papi Urhobo, Voice on Timaya’s ‘Ogologoma’, Dies After Illness
Nigerian singer Stephen Ebihor, popularly known as Papi Urhobo, has died after a prolonged illness. His death was announced on Tuesday by an Urhobo cultural community, which said he died on September 8. The community urged the public not to circulate unverified burial information, noting that his family would make an official announcement. It also asked well-wishers to remember his wife and children in their prayers. Before his death, Papi Urhobo spoke publicly about health challenges following an accident that affected his mobility. He had sought financial support for surgery and later thanked Nigerians who contributed to his treatment. He was widely remembered for his vocal contribution to “Ogologoma,” a standout track on Timaya’s 2007 debut album, “True Story.”
