Open Letter to South-East Leaders: Unite for Security, Roads and Fair Representation

I am writing out of frustration and concern for the future of the South-East. Our region continues to face poor roads, weak infrastructure, insecurity and rising costs that make life and business harder for ordinary people. I believe South-East political leaders must speak more strongly and work across party lines to demand better federal roads, trade infrastructure, security, healthcare, education, jobs and investment. Allegations of harassment, extortion and profiling at security checkpoints should also be properly investigated, while citizens’ rights must be protected. The South-East also needs stronger representation in national institutions and a fair chance to participate in Nigeria’s highest political offices. This requires competent leaders who can build national alliances and negotiate effectively for the region. I also urge fellow Igbos to reject internal division, hatred and the habit of pulling one another down. We must criticise constructively, support competence and work together for a safer, more connected and prosperous South-East within a united Nigeria.
