Jigawa Police Arrest Suspected Motorcycle Snatching Ring Linked to Nine Deaths
The Jigawa State Police Command says it has arrested suspected members of a motorcycle-snatching syndicate linked to violent crimes in Jigawa, Kano and Kaduna states. Police said the operation began after an Okada rider was allegedly attacked and robbed of his motorcycle in Aujara District, Jahun LGA. Officers and local vigilantes reportedly recovered the motorcycle and arrested a suspect, leading investigators to other alleged members of the group. According to the command, the suspects are linked to the theft of at least 33 motorcycles and several violent attacks. Police said the group allegedly confessed to the deaths of nine people during its operations. The Commissioner of Police has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department to continue investigations, trace other suspects and recover more stolen motorcycles before prosecution.
