Peter Obi Was Lured Into NDC and Is Now Trapped, Kenneth Okonkwo Claims

Kenneth Okonkwo, a spokesperson for Atiku Abubakar’s ADC presidential campaign, has claimed that Peter Obi was lured from the ADC into the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC). Speaking during a television interview on September 3, Okonkwo said the NDC’s legal status remains under appeal following a court ruling. He argued that the party is still regarded as a political association rather than a fully recognised political party. Okonkwo also maintained that Atiku is the leader of the opposition, saying opposition figures agreed to adopt the ADC as their coalition platform on July 2, 2026. He claimed Obi was part of that coalition before moving to the NDC.
