Thomas Fahmy was struck by lightning while walking through a storm to a dentist appointment in Staten Island, New York. Security footage shows him holding an umbrella moments before a lightning bolt hit him, causing him to collapse. He said he felt intense burning, numbness and severe pain in both feet. A neighbour helped him before he was taken to hospital for overnight observation. He was discharged the following day without serious injuries and later attended church to give thanks for surviving.
