Opposition Parties Propose Common Presidential Candidate Framework for 2027
The Nigeria Democratic Congress joined other opposition parties at a summit in Abuja to discuss closer cooperation ahead of the 2027 general elections. Representatives of the NDC, ADC, PDP, SDP, APM and PRP considered ways to build a united front against the ruling party. The meeting was convened by the G-100 with support from the House of Representatives Minority Caucus. Participants proposed developing, within four weeks, a framework for selecting a common opposition presidential candidate. They also suggested committees to coordinate coalition talks and prepare a transition programme. Organisers said the talks do not require political parties to dissolve, merge or ask any aspirant to leave the presidential race.
