1 / 3

Ten women and 24 children have surrendered to Nigerian troops in Mafa Local Government Area of Borno State after fleeing violent clashes between rival terrorist factions. The group reportedly arrived at about 4:30 p.m. on August 19, 2026, and surrendered to troops of the 112 Task Force Battalion under Operations HADIN KAI and DESERT SANITY V. The women are aged between 20 and 47, while the children are between one and 13 years old. Military authorities said the group left the Dukumba terrorist enclave as fighting between the factions intensified. They have been profiled and documented as investigations continue into their circumstances and possible links to the enclave. The surrender reflects continued military pressure on terrorist groups in the North-East, as well as instability within their camps.
