Security Guard Arrested Over Alleged Assault of Five-Year-Old Pupil in Calabar

Police in Cross River have arrested a 22-year-old security guard over the alleged sexual assault of a five-year-old pupil at a nursery and primary school in Calabar. The school proprietress reportedly alerted the police after the suspect was allegedly seen taking the child to an uncompleted building near the school. The incident was reported on September 28. The suspect is in custody as preliminary investigations continue. Police said the case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department and urged the public to protect the child’s identity and promptly report suspected child abuse.
