I Moved to the UK for a Master’s Degree but Regret It and Want to Return to Nigeria
I am a Nigerian student in the UK for a master’s degree, but I have been struggling badly since I arrived. I knew life abroad would be difficult, yet I did not expect the stress, isolation and constant pressure to affect me this much. I miss the peace and happiness I took for granted in Nigeria. For the next year, my routine will be school and work with almost no time to rest. The thought of waking early, working long hours and repeating that cycle every day is overwhelming. I have met Nigerians who have spent years here working extremely hard, yet still seem unhappy or unable to make the progress they hoped for. I am now questioning whether it is better to return to Nigeria early and rebuild my life there. My biggest concern is not only money, but also the judgment from people who may see my return as a failure. I would appreciate honest advice from Nigerians who have lived in the UK or returned home after relocating. How did you decide whether to stay or leave?
